- William Blake, from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell.
If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear as it is - infinite.
Absolutely Essential Listening
In my humble opinion, A Love Supreme by John Coltrane is one of the most soul-stirring recordings ever made.
The haunting modality of the songs, the melodies, the unexpected moments that feel as much like sermon as song, all combine to create a masterpiece that is one part opus and another part offering to God by Coltrane.
It’s also essential listening for creatives.
I just went on a bit of a big book binge.
Picked up Ghost Story, the new Dresden Files novel (guilty pleasure) and The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan along with a few other more philosophical and speculative titles.
Now I just have to finish the Bolaño tome I’m traipsing through. It kind of meanders.
Another thing I need to do, when I’m near the end of a book, is sleep in the same room with it. Somehow the book doesn’t leave you when you’re asleep right next to it.
Joan Didion said this and I adore it. Besides, books are sexy.
I can't stand a sentence until it sounds right.
